About Us
Under the leadership of Managing Director Hayden Burke, Cambridge Steel Fabricators and Engineers has become a major force in the steel construction landscape. Hayden’s journey began with his apprenticeship in Hawera, Taranaki, and he later ventured into general engineering in the Waikato region. He founded Haymes Engineering, a general engineering company working out of an old dairy factory, with limited resources but a steadfast desire to deliver a quality product
In 2009, Haymes Engineering purchased Cambridge Steel Fabricators from Ivan and Sheryl Pittams, whose 35-year legacy in the heavy fabrication sector paved the way for the continued growth and prominence of Cambridge Steel Fabricators and Engineers.
Over the ensuing years, the company has focused on investment in technology, equipment and its people, with the addition of key personnel, and the establishment of a senior leadership team. Today we stand strong with a team of 40 across our office, workshop, and project sites, a portfolio of project success stories, and an enviable reputation in the local market.

With hands-on experience in technical reviews, NDT requirements, and surveillance audits, Leo is committed to delivering precision and reliability in structural steel fabrication
